Shay Mitchell is a Canadian actor, model and entrepreneur. She is most well-known for her role as Emily Fields, she is a star of the Freeform TV show Pretty Little Liars. In Toronto, she took acting lessons after achieving great success with modeling and dancing. Mitchell landed a few commercials as well as guest spots on television series. Her big break occurred when she was chosen as Emily Fields. The critics and the fans alike praised her skills as an actor. She then went on to create a name for herself on the screen, with films like DreamlandMother's Dayand The Possession of Hannah Grace. The role she played in the psychological thriller series "You" led to more attention. Alongside acting, she has ventured into writing. With Michaela Blayne, Mitchell wrote the novel for adults titled Bliss. Shay Mitchell was born on April 10, 1987, and grew up within Ontario, Canada to parents Mark Mitchell and Precious Garcia. Her mother was born in the Philippines while her father was of Irish and Scottish heritage. Mitchell has also been identified as the relative of Lea Salonga - a famous musical theatre actress and singer. Mitchell attended Rockridge Secondary School before moving into West Vancouver Secondary. She had already modeled around the globe by her late teens. She traveled to Barcelona, Bangkok, Hong Kong before returning home to Toronto and began her studies in acting.
